“Mal Mo E”: The Secret Mission Episode 1

Set in 1940s Korea under oppressive Japanese occupation, where speaking the Korean language is forbidden, "Mal Mo E": The Secret Mission introduces Pan Soo, a man well-acquainted with prison and illiterate in his own tongue. To secure his son's future, he steals a bag from Jung Hwan. This act unexpectedly links him with Jung Hwan, a seemingly pro-Japanese scion of a wealthy family, who is secretly a key figure in the Korean Language Society. Their initial confrontation sparks a profound change in Pan Soo's life. Overcoming their vastly different backgrounds, the two men form an unlikely partnership. Together, they embark on a crucial and dangerous mission: to discreetly compile and publish a comprehensive Korean language dictionary, a defiant act to preserve their nation's cultural identity amidst suppression.
