Stay by My Side centers on Bu Xia, whose life takes an extraordinary turn after his spiritual medium grandfather's funeral. He starts hearing unsettling murmuring voices, initially convinced they are hallucinations requiring medical attention. To his shock, Bu Xia soon discovers these aren't in his head; they are the distinct voices of ghosts, leaving him utterly dumbfounded. His brilliant roommate, Jiang Chi, an ace in both sports and academics, emerges as an unexpected element in Bu Xia's new reality. Bu Xia quickly observes that the more he interacts with Jiang Chi, the less he hears the ghostly whispers. Desperate for peace, Bu Xia begins actively finding ways to approach and spend time with Jiang Chi. This sudden, intense interest leaves Jiang Chi increasingly confused, pondering whether it's truly his charm attracting Bu Xia, or something far more unusual.
