"The Boy and I Who Will Break Up in 100 Days" tells the compelling story of Yuma and Itsuki, a same-sex couple who rose to social media fame for their adorable relationship and advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights. Their public profile leads to an offer for a 100-day documentary chronicling their cohabitation. Yuma, eager to promote understanding of homosexuality, readily accepts the proposal.
However, a crucial secret looms: Yuma and Itsuki have already broken up. To capitalize on the opportunity and further their cause, Yuma persuades Itsuki to pretend they are still a loving couple for the cameras. Documentary director Kayano Shiho, unaware of their deception, aims to capture their authentic daily lives. As Yuma strives to be the perfect partner onscreen, Itsuki feels increasingly suffocated by these manufactured expectations. The series delves into 100 days where carefully constructed lies and genuine emotions intertwine, questioning whether the camera captures a happy life or a meticulously staged illusion.
