"The Rise of Wanshan" is a compelling drama based on a true story, chronicling the incredible transformation of a resource-exhausted city. In the late last century, the Wanshan Special Economic Zone faced devastation as its vital mercury resources dwindled. Feng Baiyang, a committed third-generation miner driven by strong responsibility, endeavors to revive the mercury mine's past glory. However, his efforts are ultimately overwhelmed by the relentless tide of state-owned enterprise reform, leaving 20,000 employees in a desperate plight.
The city's spirit plunges further during a rare, century-worst freezing disaster in 2008. Yet, Feng Baiyang refuses to surrender. Leading the cadres and resilient people of Wanshan, they embrace gratitude, forge ahead with determination, and develop a multi-industry approach. By prioritizing scientific and technological innovation alongside green development, they achieve a remarkable transformation. This inspiring journey depicts Wanshan's rebirth from a depleted city, proving that resilience and innovation can fulfill dreams of sustainable development and prosperity.
